Russia ready to consider requests to operate flights from airlines of all African countries
Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Nikitin said new routes must be commercially viable for carriers.
Russia is ready to consider requests to operate flights from airlines of all African states, aviaru.net reports. Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Nikitin made the statement on the sidelines of talks Vladimir Putin held in the Kremlin, according to the TASS news agency.
Nikitin said new services would depend on two conditions: the route must be commercially viable for the carrier, and passenger demand must be steady. Neither he nor the report said how long a review would take or whether any airline has already applied.
Direct flights already link Russia with several African countries. Since 2 July 2026, Air Tanzania has operated scheduled flights on the Dar es Salaam - Moscow - Zanzibar route.
“We are discussing additional flights and new destinations with Egypt, Morocco, the Seychelles and Tanzania,” Nikitin added. No start date for new flights was given.
