AF KLM Cargo lifts third-quarter revenue 25.2% to 677 million euros
Volumes rose 5% to 236 thousand tonnes. The company attributes the higher demand to shippers moving cargo from sea to air.
According to aircargonews.net, Air France KLM Martinair Cargo, the cargo division of the Air France-KLM group, increased its third-quarter revenue by 25.2% year on year to 677 million euros. Volumes for the quarter rose 5% to 236 thousand tonnes.
Revenue grew faster than tonnage. This means the company earned more for each tonne of cargo than a year earlier.
The company explains the higher demand by a change in how shippers choose transport. It says shippers continue to switch cargo from sea to air to avoid disruption in ocean shipping. The report does not specify which disruptions or which trade lanes.
The company also reported traffic in tonne-kilometres (cargo weight multiplied by the distance carried), but aircargonews.net does not give that figure. Forwarders also reported air volumes for the same quarter. For comparison, see the results of Expeditors: Expeditors grows air freight volumes 13% in the third quarter
